The Geo-spatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is the professional association and leading advocate for anyone using geospatial technology to help operate, maintain, and protect infrastructure, which includes organizations such as utilities, telecommunication companies and the public sector. Through industry leading conferences—along with research initiatives, chapters, membership, and other programs—GITA provides education and professional best practices. The Pacific Northwest chapter of GITA is committed to serving the geospatial community in Alberta, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Providing annual scholarships to assist in the education of future professionals emphasizes our commitment to maintain GITA’s focus on the present as we embrace our vision of the future.

The GITA PNW Scholarship is designed to help defray the costs of post-secondary education for students with a focus on Geographic Information Systems. The degree or program of the applicant does not have to be specifically for GIS; however, the program must have a significant focus on GIS.

$1,000 Scholarship(s) may be awarded to students for the 2018/19 school year. The successful applicant will also be given the opportunity to attend and present their scholastic accomplishments at the 2018 PNW GITA Regional Conference to be held in Mukilteo, WA.

Students must be attending a post-secondary institution within the Pacific Northwest (Alberta, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon or Idaho) in the 2018/19 school year and enrolled in a program whose primary field of study pertains to GIS or has a strong GIS component.
